Press Statement by the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Oslo, 7th of May 2021

On the occasion of “The International Al-Quds Day"

The last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan reminds all of us of a remarkable event known as the International Al-Quds Day, an initiative from the late founder of the Islamic Revolution of Iran to mobilize the world for the ideal of the Palestine. Undoubtedly, this initiative opened up a new chapter in the struggle against Zionism's policy of occupation in the Palestinian territory and holy land of Al-Quds Al -Sharif.

Quds Day is the crystallization of the Islamic world's ideals of a free Palestine and Holy Quds , as well as support for the oppressed people of Palestine. This day is also the symbolic occasion to remind the whole world of an unresolved humanitarian crisis, whose magnitude of its tragedy is really heart breaking, concerning the bitter fact that the goal of occupiers was the annihilation of an entire nation.

Occupying a territory and depriving a nation of its own inalienable rights by appealing to the most horrifying means of violence and crimes against humanity is the most tragic story of mankind in the modern history. Quds Day is an opportunity to renew our full solidarity with the Palestinian people in their legitimate struggle to exercise their right to self-determination.

The current situation in Palestine demonstrates that any peace plan or initiative ignoring the principal rights of oppressed people of Palestine will not lead to a lasting peaceful solution. The Islamic Republic of Iran believes that the only possible solution is holding a national referendum with the participation of all original Palestinians including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, through abiding by principled criteria consistent with historical facts, democratic principles, and inviolable fundamental rights enshrined in the international law.
